Amazing Feat

Received: 21Jan2011

The ball rested on the snow just ahead of the exit hole. The green was clear so I hit my world famous snow-chip, a delicate shot which made it onto the green rolling foward at a precipitous speed, (the green having a stimpmeter value of 17.361) and coming to rest near the cup. Of the six snow-chips I hit that day, it was my best one.

Rules Are Rules

My behavior when preparing to hit a snow chip is of course governed by the official PGA Guide in rule 38.54 in paragraph 189 sub-paragraph 32:

  • 1. one-stroke penalty each time practice swing contacts snow;
  • 2. one-stroke penalty for each footprint left in snow beyond two.
